Red lips are back this season and the redder you go, the hotter you look.

Okay, so you might be thinking that red lips just “don’t suit you.” Or perhaps you want to try red lips, but you’re not too sure what would look good.
I will tell you that there is a red out there for everyone. The proper application and a brave face are all you need. Here are some guidelines for the beginners and tips for those who are already red lipstick diva’s.

When it comes to finding a shade, there are rules to help make your life a little easier. These are some of them for those of you who are just warming up to the idea of bright ruby lips.

For fair complexion – go for a red with a blue-based undertone (think candy apple red). This will complement the pink in you’re porcelain skin.

For olive complexion – go for an orange-based red, such as fire engine, to go with the warmth of your golden skin tone.

For dark complexion- go for a deep, almost burgundy shade which will sit beautifully on darker skin.

So those are the rules. Now for people a little more advanced, go ahead and mix it up. Remember, the rules are only made to guide you but the reality is that you can wear any shade as long as you match it with some confidence. A blue-based red against a chocolate skin works very well for a bold and daring look.
Red lipstick for a seductive smile

We talked about stars, about style and beauty, sensual lips and lipstick on, about the importance of an attractive smile. And because in top this season is red lipstick, we continue the string of articles devoted to make-up. Red lipstick is one of the most demanding elements of makeup, can full an outfit, but also has the ability to send to ridiculous. The success of the makeup, and generally, the whole look depends only on you.
The secret of a perfect makeup, red lips when it comes, it is to balance the tones and setting the right tone according to some essential criteria:
- Skin shade,
- Iris color,
- Hair color and
- Outfit shade.

Additionally, the experts also take into account the tooth color, such as:
- On white teeth you can use an electric red lipstick, pearl or recommended with gloss,
- On teeth in shades of gray is recommended a removed shade,
- On yellow teeth is not recommended any shade of red.
Inspired from celebrity retro image of the 60s, the look of this season includes red lips, sensual and irresistible, especially when the outfit is a dark one (gray, black, purple).
And if it is on top, the make-up artists have given loose to use any shade of red – from burgundy, scarlet, magenta, rose to at or orange.
Red lips betray a strong personality, a fiery character and confident in their own person, so it is not recommanded for timid or reluctant women. Be bold and attract the attention of all others!
For the effect to be always the one you desire, three key tips for a correct and effective use:
- Do not use garish makeup, opt for a natural makeup when you use red lipstick, it will highlight you image, a little mascara is enough in terms of eyes;
- Bright red lipstick can become cluttered after a while, with a tendency to lie and overcome the natural contour of your lips, you can replace it with a matte lipstick or check your makeup constantly;
- Do not fall into the vulgar zone, using nails in a shade of purple – it would be too much and digratios, you can opt instead for a pale color.

How To Do a Red Lip

Since it is Valentine’s Day and love is in the air, I thought that it would be the perfect day to rock a red lip. Red lips are in girls and it is a gorgeous look paired with a really nude eye and glowing skin.

Red lips are constantly a struggle for most girls because there are so many variations of red lipsticks that it is hard for most to find one that compliments their skin tone.
So l  et’s find the right red lipstick for you. It’s easy and I am going to show you how.

First thing’s first: what is your undertone? Turn your wrist around and look at the underside of your arm. That is the best place to see your skin tone. I am very fair and I have a cool pink undertone. I rarely tan and if I do it is always a burn first (I know, don’t be jealous). An example of someone with this skin tone would be Megan Fox. If you fall under this category you will need a blue based red. I recommend MAC’s Dubonnet or Spice It Up.

Marilyn Monroe’s famous pout wouldn't have been the same without it. And Elizabeth Taylor's beautiful smile would have lost much of its sex appeal. Forget diamonds, these girls best friend was, undoubtedly, and a tube of bright red lippy - but by the Sixties, it had fallen from favour; replaced by the pale, frosted lip look.

Review: smashbox lip enhancing gloss true color in pixel

I've had this Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss True Color in Pixel for quite a few years now - maybe 3 years? Anyways, I've got to say that this is one of my fave nude lip glosses.  It's got tiny sparkles in it, but they don't bother me at all - unlike the MAC ones that feel chunky.  I'm not really into lip glosses that draw too much attention to my lips filled with sparkles.  I like how it does not have that sticky feeling.  I feel like once applied, my chappy peeling lips are covered (near flawless) AND it moisturizes my lips.
The site claims, Lip Enhancing Gloss True Color have "vitamin E and sunflower seed oil" that "nourish with a touch of creamy color and soft radiant shine" and the "velour wand perfectly contours lips."
The vitamin E and sunflower seed oil might explain how I feel about its moisturizing effects.  It softens and conditions my lips.

Plus, I love the colour.  It's a great nude pink colour for me.  I guess more of a peachy pink.
Now the downside of this and probably with every lip gloss is how it wears off so fast.  I'd say after 30 mins, the lip gloss will wear off - even when I don't eat or lick my lips.  So constant reapplication is needed to achieve the consistent results.
They had to endure rationing, having no bananas and Vera Lynn on the radio, but if there was one boon for women in the 1940s, it was fashion. In the history of couture, very few eras can match the innovation and originality of the post-war period. With difficulties in sourcing high quality materials, style had to come from somewhere else.
Design, cut and detail became a priority, and the current trend amongst today's designers to take their influence from the period is testament to its enduring legacy of style. There were lots of forties references on the international catwalks this season and the best approach to reinvent this fashion era has been realized by Mui Mui, as well as by Gucci, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Jonathan Saunders.
2011 red lips makeup

Talk of 'austerity chic' was de rigueur in the 1940s, and 'make do and mend' was the mantra of the day. But it's not just the philosophy of the decade that is suddenly relevant again - it's also the clothes and accessories. Straight out of a noir film, the retro look - featuring sleek skirt suits and elegant dresses paired with peep-toe pumps and slingbacks - embodies the elegance of the era. The key looks are fur collars, silk blouses, pencil skirts, pill box hats and the most delicate of tea and shift dresses.

But it's in the detail, the accessories, that this romantic trend really comes into its own. If you like having fun completing a look with just the right finishing touch, then you're going to love immersing yourself in this new style. The essential rule to remember is to keep your accessories sweet and sophisticated.
While your clothes may be vintage-looking, reminiscent of wartime glamour, your bag, shoes and jewellery need to be polished and sharp, for balance.

But there's so much fun to be had in accessorising this look: leather driving gloves, for example, are back in style and red leather ones couldn't be more fashionable. Bright, roomy tweed bags with wooden or metal frames will house all your essentials - or you could add a trilby for an unexpected twist. Jewellery is also key - vintage pieces add that unusual and one-off look to your outfit.

And, of course, no outfit is complete without a fantastic pair of shoes. For day, choose a pair with a good heel, blocked and tapered a peep toe and for evening, bring the look right up to date with a slim ankle strap heel, with a matching clutch bag in satin. Groomed, neat and as sophisticated as a shaken Martini. Perfect for a night of Art Deco decadence. After all, you may be Forties inspired, but there's no need for rationing.
